Our History

Rusco was founded in 1937 by F.C. Russell under the name:

Rusco Steel Storm Windows

The company originally focused on steel storm window manufacturing and began establishing distributorships across several states, laying the foundation for long-term growth.

In 1976, Sam DiFiglio purchased Rusco Home Improvement of Illinois, headquartered in Chicago.

This marked the beginning of the DiFiglio family’s long-standing involvement in the business.

During this time, Tom DiFiglio worked with the company throughout the 1970s and 1980s, gaining early experience in the trade.

In 1982, Rusco relocated from Chicago to Westmont, Illinois, signaling a major expansion into the suburbs.

This is where the DiFiglio family legacy truly began:

• Tom DiFiglio joined full-time

• Bob DiFiglio also stepped into leadership

Leadership structure formed:

• Tom DiFiglio — General Manager

• Bob DiFiglio — Sales Manager

That same year, Tom created Rusco’s first showroom, an important milestone in the company’s retail presence.

In 1989, Rusco opened its first major storefront location on Cass Avenue.

This move proved transformational — the business tripled in size following the storefront launch.

During the 1990s, Rusco began focusing heavily on:

• Energy-efficient replacement windows

• Residential entry doors

• Home improvement modernization

Rusco’s identity became centered on being a family-run exterior remodeling company, with windows and doors as its core trade.

In 2024, Rusco was purchased by Minnesota Exteriors (MEI).

This ushered in a new chapter of growth and expansion, including the introduction of:

• Roofing

• Siding

Rusco evolved beyond its window-and-door roots into a broader exterior remodeling platform.

By 2026, the company officially transitions into its next era under the name:

Rusco Exteriors

Reflecting a full-service exterior focus across:

• Windows

• Doors

• Roofing

• Siding

• Complete exterior remodeling
